Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing has publicly said that the Redmi K40S will not be produced, but the business is working on the K50 series. MyDrivers, a Chinese tech news website, broke the story. Digital Chat Station, a reputable tipper, has confirmed this story with his own leak. He claims that the Redmi K40S has not surfaced on any certification platforms, implying that the phone will not be released. He went on to say that the K40S would not have performed as well as Redmi's future Snapdragon 870 flagship phones.

These SD870-powered phones might be a Xiaomi model, while the other could be the last Redmi K40 series device. Redmi enthusiasts anticipated the release of a Redmi K40 phone powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor, but it now looks that there will be none. The source also reveals that Redmi is working on the Redmi K50 series while Xiaomi focuses on the Xiaomi 12 series.

The Mi 11 was the first phone to use the Snapdragon 888 SoC when it was released in December of last year. The Xiaomi 12 will likely be the first phone to incorporate Qualcomm's latest flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 898. This suggests that the phone will be available in late December of this year.
